Marist High School: Bringing Native Plants Back

  • Project Type: Habitat Restoration & Biodiversity; Native Plant Garden; Outdoor Learning Space
  • Students: 15
  • Staff: 2
  • Mentor: Christine Cho, Cushman & Wakefield
  • Location: Chicago, IL
  • Grade Level: High School

Goals of the project:

  • Bringing pollinators and green foliage to the campus

Students worked with the staff to get 20 potted plants for the school stairwell, built outdoor pollinator boxes, and are continuing to work on creating native plant circles around campus.

Students potted the plants, built & painted the flower boxes, and learned about the importance of native plants as they worked on building the garden.

Together, the Marist community is working towards educating themselves and each other on environmental issues and how to be better stewards for the planet.
