Join Illinois Green to explore the strategies used by housing development practitioners to identify and incorporate clean energy programs that can help fund and finance your project.

Don't leave money on the table for your next project! Unlike affordable housing and historic tax credit programs—which are well known and widely used in developing a "capital stack" of development finance—clean energy incentives are commonly misunderstood. Our speakers will share how they successfully improved their project finances by utilizing federal, state, and utility programs with sustainable design strategies, technologies, and rating systems. Both new construction and renovation projects will be covered.

After the program, you will be able to:

  • Understand key concepts of building science and the connections between efficiency, electrification, and decarbonization.
  • Identify funding sources, eligibility, and process to support clean energy components in housing development.
  • Demonstrate the impact of clean energy elements on project economics in new construction and renovation contexts.
  • Analyze how utility metering and billing arrangements affect economics of clean energy investment.

Panelists:

  • Molly Ekerdt, Vice President, Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH)
  • Kate Gronstal, VP of Development Operations, Evergreen Real Estate Group
  • Tania Kadakia, Founder & CEO, Wrought Iron Development Partners
