Architects & Engineers Unite! An Embodied Carbon Reduction Gameplan

This virtual, hour-long course provides a realistic, intentional, and integrated approach to designing for embodied carbon reductions, emphasizing the inherent inter-connectivity of architecture and structural engineering. This process highlights practical and timely opportunities to reduce embodied carbon in your projects through interdisciplinary design interventions, material research, and decision-making. Through efficient, collaborative, high-impact tools and solutions, design teams can meet project requirements and deliver low-embodied carbon designs.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify strategies for integrated interdisciplinary design coordination that reduce embodied carbon.
  2. Analyze the relationship between structural layout, architectural design, and embodied carbon to inform decision-making.
  3. Describe embodied carbon benchmarks and evaluate their health, economic, social, and governance impacts for clients and project teams.
  4. Explore embodied carbon reduction opportunities through both architectural and structural design perspectives.
