Bio Twyla

Twyla Neely-Streit

In her role, Twyla coordinates Illinois Green’s educational events and partner programming opportunities. She provides support to Illinois Green’s membership network, and works closely with Illinois Green’s volunteer-based committees to help implement their events and initiatives.


While completing her B.S. in environmental science at DePaul University, Twyla researched lead contamination in soil and community health. After graduating, she researched ecology and evolution through Stuart Lab at Loyola University.


Twyla spends as much of her time outdoors as possible and loves to read or play games with friends at Montrose Beach. She is passionate about her home region of Southern Illinois and is interested in fostering community around environmental goals.
