Salary Range: $65,000.00 To 80,000.00 Annually

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a global, nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., working to improve human health, sustainability, and resilience in the built environment through its programs and standards including LEED, the most widely used green building rating system in the world. USGBC is currently seeking a Project Manager, to drive the development and delivery of educational resources to support LEED and other USGBC/GBCI products. These assets include but are not limited to reference guides and publications (digital and print) and on-demand educational modules. 

The role is responsible for managing the full life lifecycle of the educational assets to create customer value, strengthen USGBC/GBCI products and services, drive revenue generation, and increase market impact. This includes development and delivery of new products and ongoing maintenance and tracking of existing materials as part of the ongoing development cycles for educational resources. 

The Project Manager will work closely with USGBC leaders to define and refine the strategy for development and maintenance of all educational resources. The role will work with education staff, other departments, and teams of internal and external subject matter experts, editors and other stakeholders to ensure the effective planning, development, release, maintenance, and promotion of resources. This position will support the full life cycle of educational resource materials including scoping, development, execution and ongoing updates.

Specific Responsibilities:

Planning and Execution

  • Create long and short-term plans for the development and delivery of educational resources on a fixed timeline. This includes collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on the production, delivery, and promotion of educational materials (reference guides, publications, on-demand courses, etc.).
  • Manage the execution of projects and plans, ensuring they remain on track and within budget.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on KPIs and impact of educational resources.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, assigned responsibilities, deadlines, and budgets for efficiency and smooth workflow.
  • Communicate effectively and across departments to ensure that all stakeholders are informed and understand expectations and deliverables with regards to projects.
  • Effectively convening and facilitating interdepartmental meetings to deliver outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary manager for external Subject Matter Experts. 

Content Development:

  • Coordinate with authors, writers, and content creators to produce innovative, high-quality educational content.
  • Maintain and manage inventory of education resources including schedule for updates.
  • Oversee the editing and proofreading processes to maintain content quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with designers and layout artists to create visually appealing materials and ensure that design elements align with the material’s objectives.

Printing and Distribution:

  • Coordinate with fulfillment team in the production process, including printing if applicable.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop strategies for publication promotion and distribution.
  • Contribute to product pricing analysis and revision, with sales, product management, finance, and other teams.

Education and Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent credentials
  • 5-7 years of relevant project management experience
  • Track record of successfully managing projects from initiation to completion, utilizing project management methods and tools to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Experience with the process to create and deploy educational materials and resources, including digital publications/platforms, and e-book production
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills and experience managing people and establishing expectations and timelines for others
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
  • Proven ability to build consensus through collaboration and influence and work effectively within a cross-departmental team
  • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft tools and one or more project management systems (e.g., JIRA, Trello, Asana, MS Project, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Innovative spirit and ability to deliver unique solutions to complex problems

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate level degree 
  • PMP certification 
  • >7 years of relevant project management experience
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP accreditation, comprehensive knowledge of and experience with the LEED Rating Systems, or professional experience in green building, commercial real estate, or equivalent areas
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

Employee Supervision:

  • The Project Manager may manage one or more staff members rand will engage with internal team members, external stakeholders, and supervise contractors.

  • Full Time, permanent, salaried, benefits-eligible, exempt status
  • Location: Remote or hybrid position in Washington, DC headquarters
  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm EST, 40 hours per week, occasional evening and weekends
