HUSarchitecture is a team of experts exploring how to better build sustainable community through collaboration. Our small, community-minded architecture firm in Pilsen focuses on low-income housing projects, public schools and sustainability consulting. At the core of our mission, we use our technical expertise to bring sustainability to our office, clients, and the greater City of Chicago.

About the Position:
Our passionate group is looking for a full-time Architectural Lead to join and mentor our team. The role encompasses all office project types ranging from home renovations to large scale redevelopment projects to technical consulting work (i.e., LEED, Energy modeling, Accessibility, Façade Assessments). It requires past experience with LEED v4 projects and an ability to lead an architectural project and the supporting team. The position is architecturally centered with plenty of growth potential.

– Oversee and develop project documentation (drawings, specifications, worksheets)
– Determine and delegate project tasks in accordance with client expectations
– Coordinate project team including HUS, consultants, owners and contractors
– Responsible for technical design aspects
– Share technical guidance and mentorship with team
– Observe and document field conditions within the architectural standard of care
– QAQC project documents for code compliance
– Lead project meetings with clients and contractors
– Incorporate and oversee project sustainability requirements
– Receptive to learning project specific requirements for energy auditing and façade analysis

– Experience with City of Chicago permitting process preferred
– Familiarity with Building MEP systems
– Ability to work competently on simultaneous projects
– Clearly delegate tasks suitable for team
– Passion for sustainability and community minded architecture
– Strong professional communication skills
– Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
– Ability to work well independently and collaborate with a team
– Organized with ability to follow through on deadlines
– Adaptable to change of demands and priorities

Other Requirements:
– State of IL Architectural License or actively pursuing licensure
– LEED AP with Specialty
– 5+ years of architectural experience at a public work scale
– Proven proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit
– Must have a valid driver license and access to a vehicle for site visits
– Background check required

Compensation will be based on the National AIA Compensation survey and position benefits include: Hybrid/flexible work environment, insurance coverage (partial health, full dental, vision, disability, life), 401k with company match, flex holidays, days of service and monthly team building.
