Meet Humberto Murua, Illinois Green’s Spring 2021 Efficient Chicago intern!

Originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, he is currently a masters student at Northwestern University, in the M.S. Energy and Sustainability program. This spring, he will be supporting Efficient Chicago by working with the team to create case studies of building participants in the Neighborhood Power Project, Sustainable Facilities Mentor, and Retrofit Chicago programs (among other things). When asked about why he’s excited about interning with Illinois Green: “…it aligns well with my engineering ethos. As an undergraduate civil engineering student, I had the opportunity to work with underserved communities to develop infrastructure projects. Through this experience I was able to discover engineering with a higher value by working with communities. When I discovered Illinois Green Alliance, I found that their values also align well with my desire to work with communities…”

When he’s not in class, studying, or working, Humberto likes to hike, and is an amateur kalimba player!
