Illinois Green Alliance Partners with International Living Future Institute’s Chicago Collaborative

We are excited to announce that Illinois Green has a new formal partnership with Chicago Collaborative of the International Living Future Institute (ILFI). We hope you’ll join us at the Chicago Collaborative re-launch event on October 17 and get involved with the Chicago Living Future Collaborative planning committee!

The International Living Future Institute, based out of the Pacific Northwest, is the creator of a number of forward-thinking certifications and initiatives related to the built environment – including the Living Building Challenge, Declare Label, and JUST program.  All of these programs are rooted in ILFI’s mission to lead the transformation toward a civilization that is socially just, culturally rich, and ecologically restorative.

By combining resources, Illinois Green and ILFI will collaborate to continue promoting green building design, construction and operations – and to fortify consideration for not just our buildings, but also the people inside them and the surrounding communities.

As an affiliate of the International Living Future Institute (ILFI), all members of the Illinois Green Alliance receive a FREE Basic Living Future Institute Membership. Basic Membership with the International Living Future Institute offers valuable benefits, including complimentary online education about the Living Building Challenge, ability to become a Living Future Ambassador, and discounts on workshops, books, and more. Current Illinois Green members can log in here to access instructions on how to redeem their complimentary Living Future Institute membership.

Join us for a Chicago Living Future Collaborative re-launch! We’ll be kicking off a series of activities with a two-part Materials Petal panel event!

The Living Building Challenge is a philosophy, an advocacy tool, and a certification program that drives past sustainability towards regenerative design. The core framework of the Challenge is its arrangement into seven primary categories, known as Petals. These categories encompass the focus areas of the Challenge. This series will convene panelists from LBC project teams in the Chicago area to speak about market-specific application of the Living Building Challenge Materials Petal. Join us for this learning opportunity!
