Join the Chicago Living Future Collaborative and Illinois Green to tour the verified net zero energy addition at Stevenson High School!

About this event

Come out to Lincolnshire to learn about the first verified net zero energy building in the state of Illinois.

The project team will take you on a tour of the facility and will discuss the challenges and lessons learned in designing and operating a net zero building.

Stevenson’s East Building Addition is a 56,800 square foot science classroom addition that earned LEED Platinum Certification, Platinum Certification for the Living Architecture Performance Tool, and Net Zero Certification through the International Living Future Institute. Opened for school in August 2019, the project was a recipient of a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation for Net Zero Energy and verified its performance period in 2021.

In addition to net zero energy, this building is also home to a rooftop with urban agriculture and a greenhouse, and two, two-story living walls that enliven the building’s interior.
