Member Engagement Standing Committee

If you are outgoing, sociable and committed to making a positive impact in the Illinois Green community, then this is the committee for you. We are an ambitious group of creative and dedicated sustainability professionals, and we advance Illinois Green Alliance's mission by expanding its network of supporters, members, and volunteers through events and initiatives that engage new, diverse audiences. Emerging Professionals Committee

Join the Illinois Green Alliance Emerging Professionals (EPs) in fostering collaboration and creating action within Chicago’s architecture, design, energy, sustainability and engineering industries. Work with other EPs to coordinate events across Chicagoland to support Illinois Green Alliance’s strategic plan and help bring sustainability strategies to all communities. ---> Apply now to be a part of the Emerging Professionals Committee. Energy Efficiency Ambassadors

Become an energy efficiency expert in your neighborhood. Learn about smart meter connected technology and related utility programs through training and testing of new smart technologies and energy efficiency programs in your own home, apartment or condo. Share what you have learned with your community through outreach events, social media, and other platforms.

Epic Sustainable Neighborhood Youth Challenge Mentors

Across all of Chicago’s neighborhoods, there are opportunities to make our communities more sustainable. Volunteer mentors will share their sustainability expertise with a group of high school students to envision ways to make their neighborhood more sustainable and assist with community interaction and feedback on their project.

Standing Programs Committee

Engage with sustainable design innovators and drive the conversation in Illinois’ green building industry. Committee members will lead the selection, development and implementation of monthly education programs, panel discussions, and tours by volunteering their time and expertise.

BIT Aids

Share your interest or expertise in sustainable operations and maintenance as you get partnered with a non-profit facilities operator to support the implementation of 16 sustainability best practices. Help buildings establish energy, water, and waste performance baselines and create a plan with steps for improvement.

Chicago Green Resident Engagement Collaborative

Work with a small team of volunteers and an affordable housing building to influence residential behavioral changes, in order to create a flourishing culture that supports social, economic and environmental sustainability. Utilize your interest or expertise in sustainable buildings and occupant engagement to assist in delivering green resident engagement tools.

GreenBuilt Home Tour

Volunteer inside one of Illinois’ unique, green homes during the GreenBuilt Home Tour! Each year the GreenBuilt Home Tour features homes throughout Illinois that highlight attractive, affordable, and sustainable building practices. The tour includes Illinois’ finest builders, designers and homeowners who have created healthy, energy saving green homes.

Green Apple Day of Service

Green Apple Day of Service is a chance for parents, teachers, students, companies and local organizations to work together to transform schools into healthy, safe and productive learning environments through local service events. This year you pick the project date from September 2017 - April 2018. Work with a school in your community to select and coordinate a project that focuses on a low-to-no-cost carbon drawdown, sustainability solution.
