Chicago, IL // Spring 2021
Driven by Andrew Jackson Language Academy’s commitment to integrating outdoor learning and play into the academic curriculum and school days, the Green Team and Green Schools Mentors focused on defining an outdoor education roadmap for the school.
The plan includes a variety of initiatives including, outdoor education workshops, expanding the garden club, organizing the first annual walk/ bike/scoot/roller skate to school day, outdoor lunch for students, and a musical performance to celebrate the school trees. One of the Green Schools Mentors is also developing a summer outdoor assignment to connect students to nature while on break and will help kick-off a celebration at the beginning of the 2021-22 school year. The Green Team hopes to implement and expand these initiatives once students return to the school building.
